Hi guys! its been to long since I posted work up! I have a couple of clothed figure drawings, been playing around with colored pencil and pastels, which has been a nice change. They are all 20 - 40 minutes. A two page spread illustration for the three daughters, trying a new technique washing in large shapes and using liquid frisket to mask areas, which made it very fast. Also a taste of a comic project I have been working on called Ultrasylvania, which has been alot of fun! more of that to come soon.

3.29.12... Oh Joan

Just thought I would re attack a character design I started a while back, just went straight in with color this time, and got rid of all the layers trying to give it a little more of a traditional or organic feel. We'll see how that goes :) its nice just painting around for fun!

3.27.12. Watercolor and figure update!

Hi all, been a while since I updated. The semester has been really busy! here are some clothed figure drawings 10 and 20 minute poses, and a 40. Also Some assignments for illustration 2, where we have been using watercolor, which is alot of fun. Also I have been trying some more cartoony/ kids illustration to fit with the assignment criteria, which has been a nice change :) also some watercolor sketchbook work.

Here are some shots of one of the Ultrasylvania covers, that I began working on the other day. It was great to get back into oil paint, it feels like ages since I touched it last. I almost forgot how relaxing and meditative I find it. enjoy!

2.27.12 Interiors

Having some fun tonight painting some interiors! Designs of some castle rooms for a really exciting group comic project I am working on in school at the moment. these are just quick value studies... still alot of work to go. Also some space suit designs I am playing around with. I was trying to do it with line rather than value, which proved to be more of a challenge than I thought :) more to come!

12.2.12 Watercolor!

Been trying my hand at some watercolor lately, which is teaching me some new disciplines :) Spent some time painting at Stinson beach and around the golden gate which was challenging but also very relaxing. Pretty happy with the results for my first time, but I have alot to learn! and also a valentines day card for fun :)

Hi all... its been a little bit since my last post, been pretty busy lately. Here are some set designs for an unannounced group project I am currently working on. Had alot of fun with these, I havent dont alot of environment work, but I am working on doing more and improving my perspective sketching. There will be more and some characters to come!!!

Some character renders, I added some falling debree in both the images to add dramatic effect, but im not sure if it helps or just takes away from the read of the design. Might re assess tomorrow.

28.1.12 some characters

Spent this evening finishing up some character sheets I started last week, and the heads were almost all done tonight. Also watch/listened to my first Massive Black tutorial tonight Jason Chan doing villians, it was really helpful having it playing while I was rendering the characters as he talked about the importance of readability within a design.

now time for bed :)

Some friends and I were having some fun, designing a Joan of Arc character a couple of months back, and so I am re attacking it at the moment for some portfolio pieces. Both works in progress at the moment, comments and critic welcome :)

18.2.12 Color!

A qucik study of a photo I took of a great San Francisco sunset a week or so ago, and paint over of a sketchbook sketch. Was concentrating on color and tone with the cowboy,  pretty happy with how its coming along, so ill try and work it more tonight! both done with round brushes. enjoy!

15.1.12 Studies

Something I have been meaning to do more of, some digital studies from films. Here are a couple from Indiana Jones. It was alot of fun, I was mainly trying to focus on the tone and colour and experiment with what I could do with a couple of brushes :)
